Personal Stewardship

As an Insurance Agent and Deacon, I believe its my responsibility to preach the Word of God and to teach Frugality, Thrift, Savings, and Building for the future.

This post is designed to teach good stewardship of God's resources and to teach a roadmap one can use to build a more secure tomorrow.

Let us not forget though, our treasures are in Heaven, and God is not some kind of magic wish granting troll. He's provided us with tools, and its up to us to use them. May we always use our tools to build a better future for the Kingdom, our family and friends, and ultimately for ourselves.

Though my posts will use lots of Bible verses, neither the use or non-use of my suggested 10 step regiment will add to nor take away from anyone's salvation, blessings, treasures waiting in heaven or anything else. They are merely tools to aid in good stewardship!

Stay tuned for more posts on each Step.

-Step 1: Triage and Make a Commitment

Proverbs 21:5 ESV The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes only to poverty.

-Step 2: Save $2500

Luke 14:28 ESV For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?

Studies show that households with greater than $2,500 in savings are substantially less likely to experience hardship!

-Step 3: Pay off all debt except for home and car

Psalm 37:21 ESV The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives;

-Step 4: Building Lines of Credit as Insurance

Luke 16:10-12 ESV “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? And if you have not been faithful in that which is another's, who will give you that which is your own?

-Step 5: Save 6-12 months of true expenses

-Step 6: Make life goals and long term plans

-Step 7: Building Guaranteed Retirement Income

-Step 8: Pay off house

-Step 9: Take Risks, Live Life, Spread the Love

-Step 10: Share with others!

Proverbs 3:9-10 ESV Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce; then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine.

The Second floor of this building was where furniture was upholstered and made to look new! After the factory closed its doors and had been lost to time, Rev Louis Gibson and Rev Bige Carnahan and others brought the word of God which "upholstered" his people!

Upholstery of furniture hides the blemishes and rugged nature of quality furniture while the "upholstery" of the Word and the Spirit gives a foundation to His wary people!

The Free Pentecostal Church

A parking lot for Eli Lilly's Indianapolis Headquarters once held the humble beginnings of a movement now spanning several states! Many buildings along South New Jersey Street were demolished so Eli Lilly could expand their operations, and provide livings for many many Hoosiers! Everyday countless people park over the places where previous generations made their livings and legacies. Most of the history has been lost to time hastened by bulldozers and construction crews, but this research will hopefully keep a small part of that history alive!

In the early 1950s, a congregation gathered at 617 s New Jersey St, on the second floor, to worship God and receive blessings of the Holy Spirit through lifestyle change, fasting, fellowship, prayer, and Scripture Study!

Many of our present generations criticize their traditions as outdated or antiquated, but the generations alive 50 to 75 years from now will criticize our traditions as well!

May their sincerity and dedication serve as a beacon of Christ's work in our lives!
